ABOUT:
Chumbes, or Inzhona in the Muisca language, are ancestral woven protection belts traditionally used by the Muisca people of the Colombian Andes. These belts carry prayer, intention, and centuries of lineage.
This Chumbe was woven on a traditional wooden loom by Xua, a Muisca woman artisan we had the honour of visiting in her community in the mountains of Colombia. Each piece reflects her knowledge, her teachings, and the living energy of her territory.
A Chumbe serves as a protective energetic shield and an energy harmoniser, offering grounding, alignment, and containment during ritual, ceremony, and daily life. It is widely used by healers, energy workers, and both men and women seeking deeper connection to ancestral practices.
For women, Chumbes offer essential support during moon time (menstruation) and throughout the postpartum dieta, holding both physical and energetic support.
